Esperanza Literary Cafe
A strange star shines above, once again, we are far from home...
Dear friends, we invite you to our literary café, which we've named Esperanza—Hope.
We offer books in Russian and Ukrainian, as well as works by Russian authors translated into Spanish.
You can buy them or simply borrow them from our library.
We'd be thrilled if you joined us for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoyed dishes inspired by our grandmothers' recipes, reimagined for today.
Who is this project for? And why?
First and foremost, it’s for all of us who feel "far from home," both physically and spiritually.
This literary café is about preserving the cultural fabric of a large, multilingual community bound by countless threads.
We share so much in common—joys and sorrows alike. We inherited a great shared culture, passed down lovingly through generations, respected and cherished worldwide, even beyond our native speakers.
We believe that only cultural unity can heal deep divides and bring hope.
This project is for those who hold onto Hope for the future... for goodness, for peace, for freedom.
Freedom without anger—"libertad sin ira." These were the words of a song born in Spain in the 1970s during its democratic transformation. Back then, the wisdom of the people helped prevent a new collapse, avoiding decades of division and hatred.
There is much for us to learn, much to live for, and much to hope for.
Hope is the last to die…
